Introduced in 1963 with race car drivers in mind, the Rolex Daytona was named after the famous Daytona International Speedway in Florida. It is a chronograph with a tachymeter scale, which allows its wearer to approximate the speed of an object travelling over a known distance. Most famously endorsed by legendary actor and race car driver Paul Newman, whose personal Daytona set the world record for a wristwatch at auction in 2017, the Daytona remains one of the most aspirational Rolex models today.
