Omega’s first dive watch was not the Seamaster but the Marine, introduced in 1932 and the world's first commercially available dive watch. The Seamaster was launched in 1948 to celebrate Omega’s centenary, in a design inspired by the W.W.W. (Watch Wristlet Waterproof) that Omega had supplied to the British Royal Navy during World War II. It was elegant and lacked a 60-minute rotating bezel, which would be introduced on the Seamaster 300 in 1957 to help divers keep track of their elapsed time underwater. Today, the collection is a favourite among many, including the world’s favourite secret agent, James Bond.
