In the signature colour of Ducati but with the restraint and refinement expected from a sibling of Rolex, this variant of the Fastrider manages to be striking but far from gaudy and is arguably the best representation of the collaboration between the two greats.
Introduced in 2015 in collaboration with Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati, the reference 42010N is a prime example of collaborative design done right - no awkwardly placed logos, no forced colours, just an emphasis on the design languages that the two brands share. In this case, that is contrasting colourways and aggressive architecture, which collectively translate into a youthful energy. The present variant features a dial in bright red, which happens to be the colour of Ducati, with black and white accents, decorated with black, dagger-shaped hands and hour markers. The bezel is sandblasted black ceramic, and the stainless steel middle case and case back are mostly of satin finish, making for a glare-proofness that would be appreciated on the road. A date corrector at 9 o'clock sits within a black PVD guard in the shape of a shield, subtly referencing the logos of both brands. The pushers and screw-down crown are also in black PVD. Despite the adornments, this final generation of the Fastrider is the most minimalistic, hence legible. In fact, it is more minimalistic than Rolex's Daytona with three lines of text versus the Daytona's whopping seven, which, together with the energetic colourway, Ducati collaboration, and greater water resistance, make the Fastrider more appealing to some as compared to the Daytona. This example comes on its original rubber strap and with its original warranty card, instruction manual, and Ducati co-signed box, thus enhancing collectability.
