Description

The Oris Artelier Small Second Pointer Date REF No 7597 stands out because it blends classical elegance with a clever, vintage-inspired complication — the pointer-date hand — giving you a unique and refined way to read the date without disturbing the dial’s symmetry.

The dial of this Oris wears a refined silver-grey guilloché surface, with clean stick indices and polished hands that give the watch a timeless, elegant look. The small seconds is placed off-centre (at 9 o’clock), which adds subtle visual interest without cluttering the dial. Around the edge of the dial runs the “pointer date” scale — a distinctive feature of this model — with a hand (often tipped in red) pointing to the date, so the date indication remains integrated yet unobtrusive. The case is stainless steel, sized at 42.5 mm, with gently curved lugs that help it sit comfortably on the wrist. Covering the dial is a domed sapphire crystal, with anti-reflective coating on the inside, which enhances legibility and gives a nice vintage-dress-watch vibe. The bracelet is likewise stainless steel, matching the case and adding to a sense of cohesive elegance and solidity.

Inside the watch beats the automatic movement Oris Calibre 644. It runs at 28,800 vph (4 Hz), with a power reserve around 38 hours. The movement drives central hour and minute hands, the subsidiary seconds at 9 o’clock, and the pointer-date complication that tracks the day of the month. The watch also features a screw-down case back with see-through (mineral) glass, allowing the wearer to view the movement at work. The automatic winding and reliable frequency make it a robust everyday mechanical watch — precise enough for daily wear without being overly complicated.

The model comes from the family of Oris watches known as Artelier — a collection that emphasises classical lines and traditional watchmaking roots. The “pointer date” complication used here is an expression of a heritage that dates back to 1938, when Oris first introduced its Pointer Date watches.Over time, Oris evolved that heritage into more refined complications and dress-style pieces; this Small Second Pointer Date reflects that — combining tradition and modern practicality in a sleek, versatile watch that works both in formal and everyday settings.
