Founded in 1980, Hublot established its "Art of Fusion" philosophy immediately by introducing the luxury watch industry's first solid gold case on a rubber strap, thus making quite a splash. The next big splash would come in 2004 when Mr. Jean-Claude Biver joined as CEO and introduced the Big Bang, which would become an icon of the brand – and even among sport watches – for the next two decades. It is worth reminding newer collectors, who have only heard divisive discussions about the brand so far, that these were huge commercial successes and entailed numerous watchmaking and design awards. The Classic Fusion, to which the present example belongs, was launched in 2008 and is characterised by a relative thinness, 10.6 mm here, as well as a design heavily inspired by the first Hublot from 1980. The collection was meant to be a gateway drug for those who found the Big Bang too bold but, today, has become the best seller of the brand, as classically styled watches – with one or two twists to stand out – are coming back in vogue. The present example sports a slate grey sunburst dial with faceted rhodium-plated steel hands and applied indices, framed by a grade 5 titanium case held together by proprietary grade 5 titanium H-style screws, mounted on a hybrid deep grey alligator and black rubber strap that, itself, seems to evoke the "Art of Fusion". This timepiece is unworn and comes as a complete set, making it a particularly attractive proposition!

This timepiece is unworn. Hence, its dial, hands, movement, case, strap, and buckle appear flawless. The accessories exhibit some marks associated with storage but would not look much different from a fresh set leaving the boutique.

• BN 9.9: Brand new and unworn, with no signs of use.
• UN 9.5: Like new and unworn, but may lack original packaging or materials such as the box, links, tags, or bezel protector.
• LN 9.0: Like new and unworn, but only includes the watch without papers, box, or accessories.
• MT 8.5: Mint condition, lightly used with minor surface scratches or wear. Unpolished.
• VG 8.0: Moderately used, with scratches and one or two nicks on the case or crystal. Shows signs of polishing. The bracelet remains snug with minimal wear.
• GD 7.5: Shows signs of daily wear but is not abused, with noticeable polishing on the case. The bracelet shows clear signs of daily wear.
