Design – Dial, Case, Crystal & Strap The Bell & Ross BR-X1 R.S.20 has a bold skeleton dial that lets you see through into its inner mechanism. The hour markers and hands are metal with Super-LumiNova® lume so you can read the time even in low light. The 45 mm case uses lightweight, strong materials like satin-polished titanium, ceramic and rubber that protect the watch and give it a high-tech look inspired by racing cars. The crystal on top is sapphire with an anti-reflective coating, so it stays clear in many light conditions and resists scratches. Instead of a metal bracelet, the watch comes with a perforated black rubber strap that feels sporty and sits comfortably on the wrist, finished with a steel buckle with rubber overmoulding.

Movement Inside the BR-X1 R.S.20 beats an automatic mechanical movement called the BR-CAL.313. This movement runs at a standard watch speed (28,800 vph) and has 56 jewels that help reduce friction inside the mechanism. Because the dial is skeletonised, you can see elements like the X-shaped upper bridge and parts of the chronograph system working as the watch runs. The chronograph function lets you time events with a 30-minute counter and a central seconds hand, and a tachymeter scale on the flange helps measure speed — fitting for its motorsport theme.

History of This Model The BR-X1 R.S.20 is part of Bell & Ross’s R.S.20 collection, created in partnership with the Renault F1 Team. The “R.S.” stands for Renault Sport, linking the watches to high-performance racing design and materials. Bell & Ross started this collaboration in 2016 and has released special editions each year, drawing on the engineering and style of Formula 1 cars. The BR-X1 R.S.20 itself is a limited-edition model — just 250 pieces were made — and it brings the brand’s experimental, high-tech BR-X1 design into the sports chronograph space with a skeletonised dial and race-inspired look.

• MT 8.5: Mint condition, lightly used with minor surface scratches or wear. Unpolished.
• VG 8.0: Moderately used, with scratches and one or two nicks on the case or crystal. Shows signs of polishing. The bracelet remains snug with minimal wear.
• GD 7.5: Shows signs of daily wear but is not abused, with noticeable polishing on the case. The bracelet shows clear signs of daily wear.
